Shambhu: Composing on the edge Amazingly, Shambhu has composed over 100 songs since his last album...We'll hear some of the best of those on November 12 at Global Heart Concert #4 at East West Bookstore.
As I visited with him in his home in Larkspur, he described to me how some of his newer songs are written "on the edge"....he begins improvising a new melody but then changes it by pushing beyond the realm of what is known and comfortable to him.
"By truly listening and being open to what comes next... I let the universe and my intuition come together like a dance. It's then a process of 'discovering' new rhythms and melodies that are surprising and new even to me"
Don't miss Shambhu at next week's Global Heart Concert #4... an extraordinary evening of music featuring many unrecorded new songs from Shambhu's next album. Some spectacular musicians will join us. Tickets now available. Saturday Nov 12th 730pm-930pm.
Shambhu's debut CD Sacred Love has been lauded by Will Ackerman (Windham Hill) as "STELLAR" and his music is a powerful outpouring from the heart. Shambhu has performed with Carlos Santana, Narada Michael Walden, and played on Whitney Houston's multi-platinum album, Whitney.
Premik Tubbs is a versatile multi-instrumentalist who has worked with countless greats from Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and Ravi Shankar to Clarence Clemons, Sting and Billy Joel.
Dewayne Pate is one of the best bass players around. You can frequently see him hold down the bass for such greats as Arturo Sandoval, David Garibaldi, and Robben Ford. He has also toured with Boz Scaggs and Huey Lewis.
Also joining me will be the talented pianist Troy Arnett. I promise this will be an evening you will not soon forget!
With heart,
David DiLullo
